I had a momentous night last night. I got the highly unexpected and joyful news that my wife Cynthia is pregnant. Most everyone has kids at some point, so it's not especially unique and I feel like I'm supposd to understate it, but my mouth is still agape and I'm still in a dazed state of happiness, shock and amazement. I previously skipped ahead to 3 and 7 with my adopted kids, so this will be a new experience starting from the ground up.
I came here just a touch over four years ago a single man -- a less successful Brad Ruszala. Now I have a wife, two kids and I'm soon to have a third. I know I'm supposed to wait a while before revealing this kind of news, but the journalist in me makes that hard to do. How this news impacts all types of things like my career, location, etc is still too early to tell -- one of many things to ponder. The only thing I know for sure right now is that with me at 5'5'' and Cynthia less than 5 feet, this kid isn't going to the NBA or WNBA. Life is amazing.

CONGRATULATIONS JEFF AND CYNTHIA!!!!!
Wow - I am truly delighted for both of you! Very exciting news!
Congrats guys.... next time we're both in Seoul or Manila we have to meet for coffee again.
*HEY MR:TURBITT CONGRATS GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW BABY! AND REMEMBER TO TEACH HIM THE BIBLE.
ONE "S" MANY NO "S"
Aw, Jeff and Cynthia, congratulations.
Jeff & Cynthia:
Congratulations and here's to a healthy pregnancy!
Congratulations, your life is now entering a new, exciting, scary, and wonderful stage. Nothing else like it.
By the way, Spud Webb won the NBA Dunk Championship at 5'7", and Muggsy Bogues had a long and successful career in the NBA despite being 5'3". Don't give up hope!
Congratulations you two. May (s)he grow up under your guidance to be happy, healthy and prosperous!!
Congratulations! Try to stock up on some sleep.
Oh, you're about to enter the Vortex.
Congrats to you both! How exciting!
Thanks for the support everyone, and I think you are all more reasonable than Cynthia, who has already rejected James Marshall, The Edge, Franklin Delano and Marcellus Wallace Turbitt as potential names.
Marsellus Wallace Turbitt sounds like a definite winner to me.
God Speed to a new experience for all the Turbitt's. Congratulations.
Congratulations! And, yes, welcome to the Vortex.
Have you figured out who the father is?
Sorry, I couldn't resist. I was able to resist for two days, but I just had to say it.
Congrats!
How about Wolfhunter Morpheus Turbitt?
My friend's, sister and brother-in-law named their kid Alden Danger (insert last name here, I can't remember it)... no kidding. So, now the kids can use the "No, my middle name is Danger" line. Could be applicable in your case, Jeff.
i know one baby who'll be born with more hair than the father...
congrats brother. wishing all the best to you and cyn.
brad
Congrats, Jeff and Cynthia!--what a blessing!
Wolfhunter Danger Turbitt would be the greatest name ever...especially for a girl.
I don't think your idea will make it to the proposal stage, Angelo. We've now had Dave Matthews Turbitt, Jaco Pastorius Turbitt, Mariano Rivera Turbitt and Geddy Lee Turbitt rejected. I've always like Gloria, but the song is about a groupie, and Cyn doesn't like Gloria the leader of the PI, so double elimination. If it's a girl, she won't be allowed in the same room as Brad Ruszala's son if Brad has a son one day. You know the whole apple and the tree thing.
How about Agave for a girl? Agave Margarita Turbitt, a nice Catholic name, sort of.
already throwin' salt in little brad's game? that's messed up yet. my kid to be is already answering for the sins of his father. i ask you, is this justice?
ye of the hair jokes doth protest too much methinks
How about "Fred"? Nice solid name.
Fred is my uncle and was my grandfather. Something more unique is required.
Congratulations Jeff! I just found out. I haven't been checking blogs much since I got on island and I've been busy looking for an apartment.
That's great news though!
how about 'brad?' nice solid name...
think of it this way, you'll be happier knowing that your kid is happier and you can live vicariously through him. whaddaya think?
if it's a girl, i kinda like 'genevive.' here friends can call her 'jen' but it will always have a more regal name fit for someone with her intelligence.
Genevive sounds like a cheese, but Brad is a solid name, I'll admit. Way before than Fred. Sorry David.
That is so awesome Jeff! Congratulations!
Congrats Jeff and thanks for the rookie of year honors. So if your wife shot down Geddy Lee Turbitt, then I'll assume that Cygnus is out of the question.....by the way, my 3-yr. old is a metalhead already. You really can influence your kid with music. He loves Motley Crue and knows about a third of the lyrics already to Toxicity, "disorder, disorrrrrrrrderrrrr!!"
My four year old definitely is under my influence musically, and we've gotten the Led out a few times. He loves Neil Peart's drum solo, as well, and is really into drums in general. Since I'm a bass player, we have a family rhythm section in the making. My 10 year old was beyond my sphere until he was 7 and I met my wife, so she poisoned him with hip hop and he has no musical taste. Oh well.
Bring 'em to Porky's, Jeff. You have visiting rights to the Bass Amp. Maybe we can jamb some 'inna cada da vida' Iron Butterfly at the 10 year old and get him on the road to recovery. But hey, hip hop is cool too Mudda F(*&^%^R. Vocabulary building at it's finest!
