One of my favorite shows of all time is the West Wing. I was reminiscing about that show and read an interview with creator Aaron Sorkin, who had this quote on the internet.
"It’s a bronchial infection on the First Amendment. Nothing has done more to make us dumber or meaner than the anonymity of the Internet."
And on the topic of interesting quotes, I loved this quote from Bill Maher on last week's Real Time:
"It seems like our society has two reactions to problems: paralysis and panic. Paralysis would be big long term issues like social security, immigration, health care, energy, the environment. Nothing ever gets done, paralysis. Panic is our other response. 9/11 would be a good example of panic. Attack the wrong country. Start torturing people."

To stop the paralysis:
social security, End it. immigration, Open it to all.
health care, Pay for your own.
energy, Get govt out of the equation.
the environment, stop using it as an excuse to foster intrusive government.
To stop the panic: Have the president breath deeply from a paper sack for say, 6 hours or so.
Not true, MTV has played the greatest role in the "dumbing down" of America.. easily. It has permeated American homes for nearly 30 years now. I love it.. but letting my kids watch it won't happen. Noni commenting or blogging doesn't even come close.
The internet gives us a platform to be dumber and meaner but, like TV, it's neutral. Pogo again: the enemy is us.
You might still find what you want in the deepest Amazon, Bruce. If you hurry. But you'd better learn about the plants and animals or it won't be hypothetical paralysis.
The version of MTV we get here is all reality TV and beauty contests. They've given up on music.
Spend a day watching some of those shows Kap.. and a few of the videos that make it in-between the shows. I gaurantee.. you'll be dumber for it :}
