This blog began with a focus on living and working as a teacher in Saipan, CNMI, but will now morph into a discussion of thirtysomething family life in the American southwest. Common topics will include: stand up comedy, sports, politics, travel, scuba diving, music, food, film, education, whitewater rafting and the inanities of people.

Dear Jeff
sympathies to you and your family...
Sorry for your loss.
Jeff~ I am so sorry for your loss. Shelby had a good life with many adventures. Now her spirit is free from an aged and sick body.
Let me know if you and the kids need anything.
Sorry to hear about your dog, our sympathies from Ronnie, Jeanne, & Dane
Thanks everyone. I know "it's just a dog," which is what some will think and I guess that is what I'm supposed to rationalize, but it wasn't. She was the most sweet natured animal ever and she kept my chin up, comforted my kids and was with me every day for 12 years. Her kidneys shut down, and she died vomiting blood in the middle of the night as I petted her powerless to help her. All of this happened very suddenly. It hurts so fucking bad there aren't words.
Sorry, buddy. It sounds so painful.
A boy and his dog. The friendship, the loss...it sounds trite,.. until it happens to you.
Sorry pal.
my eyes started to well up when i read your comment. sorry, buddy.
Jeff, I'm behind in my blog reading, but had to comment on this post. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels. We had Jax (our boonie dog) for 10 years on Saipan. I still miss him. He grew up with my kids, watched over us, played with us, was always there to greet us, and much much more. I hope your heart feels better and can smile at the good memories soon.
